Our Mission Statement
"Go out and be a center, a life-giving power, to a whole community, when an opportunity comes; when you may give life where there is no life, hope where there is no hope, power where there is no power. "

"Begin in a humble simple way, and work to build up institutions that will put people on their feet. It is that kind of life that tells the world that you are mature as a person."

The Hon. Dr. Booker T. Washington
Sunday Evening Talk at The Tuskegee Institute

A Scholars' Candle

We sincerely believe that it is our duty as the eldest great-grandson, the eldest living male descendant, of one of America' premier historical leaders, to take a stand on many of the issues that affect our people, the African-American community.

We abhor racism, whether it is white racism or black racism. We believe the our mutual Creator made people of many colors in order glorify Him as the sole Creator of all humanity, and that the only true measure of human excellence is our obedience and service to our Creator, not color or nationality or ancestral background.

We are living in time when people should turn again to the messages of the great masters of learning, such as Father Abraham, Prophet Moses, Christ Jesus and Prophet Mohammed (Peace Be Upon Them). We can gain much from studying the Holy Bible, the Torah and the Holy Qur'an. We can gain much from the words of my great-grandfather, Booker T. Washington, who wrote, "I will never allow any man to drag me down so low as to make me hate him." We must turn our attention to the words of Christ Jesus, (Peace Be Upn Him) who said, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you," or Prophet Mohammed (Peace Be Upon Him), who said "If you kill one innocent human being, it is, before the Creator, as if you had killed all of human Creation."

The Mission Statement of the Booker T. Washington Hertiage Development Center

We are seeking to fulfill the legacy of our great-grandfather, the Honorable Booker T. Washington (1856-1915), who was a beacon of hope for humanity at the beginning of the twentieth century. In 1881, at age 25, he established the school now named Tuskegee University, along with his future wife, Olivia Davidson Washington and many others.

Our mission is to promote the legacy of The Honorable Dr. Booker T. Washington as an educator, character builder, economic visionary, nation builder, and social reformer. We also are committed to implementing the economic development plans of the late Imam W. Deen Mohammed, to give the striving African-American people as well as other historically-disadvantaged people an opportunity to enjoy material wealth by working as a community of G-d conscious business men and women.

We echo the mission of Booker T. Washington who wrote, "My part is to speed the day now fast approaching when there shall not be a northern heart of a southern heart, a black heart and a white heart, but it shall be melted by deeds of sympathy, patience and forbearance into one heart--the great American heart--whose higher aspirations shall be to give men everywhere unrestricted opportunity for the fullest growth and prosperity."
